This red brick apartment block overlooking Manly beach required extensive structural work in order to address a number of safety hazards identified by consulting engineers.

The list of structural issues to be rectified included:

  • Brick delamination
  • Concrete spalling on the underside of balconies
  • Rusted balustrades and conformance
  • Lintel corrosion
  • Failing waterproofing
  • Window obsolescence

In addition to these structural upgrades, the Strata Committee requested that aesthetic upgrades also be implemented during renovation.

Requested aesthetic upgrades included:

  • New window design
  • Re-rendering of the entire building
  • Installation of new balcony balustrades
  • Upgrades to tiling
  • Painting in collaboration with a colour consultant

The requested aesthetic and structural works were completed within fifteen months, and ten years on this building remains visually appealing and completely free of structural issues. This building is testament the quality workmanship on which Remedial Building Services prides itself.
