carbon fibre strengthening

In situations where a concrete structure requires an improved load baring rating, many people do not know where to turn. The situation may arise due to structural degradation, or in situations where existing concrete slabs or reinforcing structures are put under new stress such as new tenants taking ownership of the building. Similarly, in the construction of new buildings, there are situations where inadequate reinforcing is put into the concrete, meaning a solution must be found, short of re-pouring the slab.

The solution is Carbon Fibre Stripping.

Carbon Fibre strips are a versatile and strength enhancing solution, which offers performance that is far superior to steel in terms of strength to mass ratio. Light and easily applied - by trained professionals who work in concert with engineers - carbon fibre strengthening allows flexibility in the structure and as such can be used for many varied applications.

Furthermore, carbon fibre strips are fire tested to AS and consistently perform to levels above specification.

The many uses for carbon fibre include:

  • Reinforcement of concrete slabs
  • Pre-stressed reinforced concrete beams
  • Column strengthening
  • Enhancement of structural strength
  • Bridges
  • Other concrete structures

Recently, Remedial Building Services applied carbon fibre to a new construction in Eagle Street, Brisbane. For further information, please contact our offices today, or review our case studies.
