Symbion - Pharmaceutical Floor
In March 2007, Remedial's Brisbane based team completed work at the Symbion Consumer pharmaceutical plant.
Our primary role was to prepare the was down room and the storage room so that they were able to withstand the constant foot traffic and wet surfaces that are so prevalent in those conditions. Our first task was to implement a system which would withstand hot water washing (in excess of 85 degrees celcius) and which would be non-slip as well. Traditional MMA or epoxy systems would not be enough for these conditions so we devised an alternative system.
Our first step was to prepare the area, grading the floor to bucket traps using epoxy mortar. We then installed flowcrete HSFR to the wash area, levelling it out to ensure adequate falls and drainage. The last step was to cove the wall using epoxy and to seal the area with two coats of polyurethane, ensuring that there was adequate protection from the rigorous tests it would need to withstand. In keeping with the requests of the client we applied differing non-slip (R) ratings to each area
At the end of the project Remedial performed the following work:
- 65m of open floor in the flowcrete, polyurethane system
- 25 lineal meters of new epoxy coving
- and re-seal approx 25 lineal meters of existing epoxy coving.
