Penrith Panthers Stadium - Fire Rating

Earlier this year, work began on upgrading the football stadium at Penrith, the home ground of the mighty Penrith Panther's.

Realising the need to expand the grandstand, at the same time as making the surroundings for their corporate clients more comfortable, construction began on an entire new wing. After the concrete had been laid and the steel formwork put in place, Remedial Building Services were contracted to advise the engineers who required a 60 minute FRL, yet at the same time required an aesthetically pleasing finish.

The solution was simple. We needed to apply a ?fire retardant paint which would allow the contractors to apply a finishing paint over the top without affecting the overall design criteria. As such we applied a thin film intumescent coating to the steel.

As our manager of Fire Rating - said:

"The application of a thin film intumescents over the more traditional methods achieved a dual purpose. We achieved the required 60minute FRL yet also provided a finish that allowed the contractor to choose a top coat that achieved exactly what the client wanted: an aesthetically pleasing result.

"We have replicated this scope of work several times and will continue to do so given the adaptability and ease of application over more traditional fire rated coatings"

The end result satisfied all parties concerned, with all preparation, work and cleanup being performed in the specified time period.
